Pimpri: Pimpri Chinchwad Small Scale Industries Association on Tuesday held a protest at the regional office of MSEDCL here to oppose the proposal for hike in power tariff.
The association said that the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSECL) has already hiked its power tariff by 20 per cent. The new proposal for hike in power tariff will increase the hike for small scale industries to 40 per cent, the association said. The association later submitted a memorandum to MSEDCL Acting Executive Engineer Bapurao Bharane. The association’s secretary, Jayant Kad, said that instead of increasing the power tariff, the MSEDCL should pay attention to prevent power pilferage and power leakages. That will increase the MSEDCL’s revenue, he said.
Those who participated in the agitation included the association’s President Sandip Belsare, Vice-President Vinod Nanekar, Treasurer Sanjay Wawale, and directors Nitin Bankar, Deepak Falle and Vinod Mittal.
