The Mahametro has already started the Metro work near the BRTS route in Chinchwad.
Pimpri: Mahametro has extended the route of the Metro in Pimpri Chinchwad by 600 metres. The route will now continue up to the Mother Teresa Flyover near the Empire Estate Colony in Chinchwad.

Initially, the last stop of the Metro was to be at Morwadi Chowk near the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation headquarters. A track of 540 metres was to be constructed from there for turning direction of the Metro.
The Mahametro recently decided to extend the route of the Metro by 1,154 metres for the purpose of inspection and maintenance of the Metro. A pillar will be constructed beyond the Mother Teresa Flyover.
Civic activists in the city have been demanding extension of the Metro route to Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi for the convenience of a large number of commuters based in Akurdi and Nigdi.
The Metro route from Pune to Pimpri Chinchwad is located on the divider of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The route however has been diverted to the service road of the Expressway after Kharalwadi in Pimpri.
